“Nobody makes a greater mistake than he who does nothing because he could only do a little.”

- Edmund Burke

I feel it is a great accomplishment when lots of little things add up to a bigger thing.

For instance, reading the second installation of the Hunger Games...a few pages at a time. My commute to and from work every day allows me a total of about 30 minutes of reading per day.

Silly me, I thought that wouldn't really get me anywhere in my book. It sure doesn't sound significant. Ha! Funny how wrong I was. Reading a few pages every day feels pretty unproductive, but it gets you somewhere.

So that makes me think....what else could I accomplish if I did it in the tiniest, manageable increments?

Expanding my cooking repertoire. There's something.

Throwing one semi-difficult or new thing into the cooking week is doable. And not even overwhelming.

Taking more pictures. And editing them. One at a time.

Because I enjoy all of these things. And who needs unrealistic goals? They are...unrealistic.

So in summary: I am nearing the end of Catching Fire. I cooked salmon in the oven for the first time last week and wondered why I had never done it before. And I have been enjoying my new iphone4 and its camera abilities to the fullest extent. Which is why I take pictures of everything now. Including Catching Fire. Baby steps. Is that how you live life? Am I just really new to the club?

  1. I absolutely love the Hunger Games series! I think smaller goals you may actually accomplish are so much better than larger goals that you may never see an end to. I'm all about baby steps in my life. :)

  3. My spanish teacher in high school told me this! She promised our class that if we studied for ten minutes each morning, we would all get A's in the class. I honestly believe this is where I got my good study habits...because she was so right! :) Little things add up!
And I absolutely love love love making salmon...I'm pretty impatient when it comes to cooking, but this is a super easy and delicious meal! :)
