a historical day

Well, we all know what day today is: my day off. Oh, and it is also inauguration day. Here's the thing, every time I have a holiday that Eric does not have, I spend it doing my favorite thing in the world: being a solo tourist in D.C. I stay out all day, wandering around, visiting my favorite monuments, my favorite streets, and my favorite coffee shops. It is glorious.

The thing is, this holiday falls on a crazy day in DC, and I debated staying home to avoid the crowds and chaos. Then I thought....what harm will crowds and chaos do? Granted, we've been watching the fourth season of 24, and I can think of a lot of harm that crowds and chaos cause, and maybe my imagination does get a little carried away when I picture myself wandering the city tomorrow, but I am willing to risk the danger. I am willing to believe that Jack Bauer is out there protecting all of us.

So, I'm out in the city today, seeing what I can see. Mainly, I will be people-watching, braving public transportation, and hopefully capturing a few crazy people for you on film. I make no promises. What I can promise you is that my day will involve a latte. I knew you would be happy to hear that.
