creepy in the capitol

I have experienced some scary things at work: "suspicious package" threats announced through the loud speaker at least once a month, lock-ins because of an armed gunman nearby, seeing my cubicle walls shake like the earth is about to collapse into itself because of a 5.8 earthquake, being called on by the senator during an all-staff meeting to say something intelligent, nearly running into John McCain while coming around a corner, and wondering if Ben Bernanke would recognize me from when I was in his house the day before*.

But this might have been the scariest thing of all. This is the window behind my desk. And last week, I turned around to make innocent conversation with a coworker and saw.......

THIS:

A man cleaning the windows.

*Maybe I'll tell that story some other time. But it's not bad. I realize that could have sounded weird.
